In Cathedral City, a tragic two-vehicle collision claimed the life of a 41-year-old man early Thursday morning, April 11, 2024.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the fatal incident occurred shortly before 2:00 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 10, east of Palm Drive.
According to CHP officers, a Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling in the No. 2 lane of I-10 at an undisclosed speed when the driver made an unsafe right turn, resulting in a collision with a 2008 Buick Enclave in the No. 3 lane.
The impact of the collision caused the Ford to veer onto the right shoulder of the freeway, where it collided with a sign and overturned. The driver of the Ford, identified as 41-year-old Jason J. from Indio, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
The current condition of the Buick driver, a 50-year-old woman from Arizona, remains undisclosed. Initial assessments indicate that she sustained no injuries immediately following the crash.
CHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision, including the potential involvement of alcohol or drugs.
