Thermal, CA — Perla Reyes Diaz, a 22-year-old woman from the Coachella Valley, lost her life tragically in a remote section of the roadway after apparently losing control of her vehicle, resulting in a fatal collision with a tree. The Riverside County Coroner’s Bureau is set to conduct an autopsy to further elucidate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The incident occurred shortly before noon on Tuesday along Harrison Street, just south of 68th Avenue, situated on the southern end of the desert community, as per the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Diaz was driving a Toyota Corolla northbound on Harrison when, for reasons yet unknown, the sedan veered off the roadway and overturned, rolling multiple times before colliding with a tree.
There were no other vehicles involved in the accident.
Paramedics from the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department arrived at the scene approximately 15 minutes later and pronounced Diaz deceased.
