TEMECULA, CA — A 23-year-old woman was killed and another injured in a multi-vehicle collision in Temecula on Friday morning, March 1, 2024.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the collision occurred around 5:00 a.m. on northbound I-15.
Authorities stated that a 23-year-old Murrieta woman was driving a Honda Accord in the slow lane when her vehicle veered to the right, struck the CalTrans Fence, and ricocheted back onto the freeway. The impact caused her vehicle to spin out of control and come to rest facing the wrong direction.
Subsequently, the woman exited her vehicle and stood in the #2 lane. Tragically, she was struck and thrown by another vehicle traveling northbound in the #2 lane at approximately 70 miles per hour. The driver, identified as a 38-year-old man from Oceanside, remained at the scene.
The fatal crash led to three additional collisions, resulting in one person being transported to a nearby hospital for minor injuries. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
At this time, no further information has been disclosed by the authorities.
