A tragic high-speed rollover crash in Houston has resulted in one fatality and one person in critical condition. The incident occurred around 10:00 PM on June 23, 2024, at the intersection of Gessner and Tanner.
Houston Police Department (HPD) and Houston Fire Department (HFD) were dispatched to the scene following reports of a rollover crash involving ejection. Upon arrival, they found the male driver had been ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The female passenger was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency responders. She was then transported to a nearby trauma center, where she remains in critical condition.
Preliminary information suggests that the vehicle was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to cross over the median and flip. Speed is believed to have been a contributing factor in the accident. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.
