A man on a dirt bike was arrested after attempting to flee from police during a high-speed chase in Compton on Monday night. The incident began when California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers, who were possibly in the South LA area investigating street racing activities, tried to stop the man for reckless driving. The suspect, who was not wearing a helmet, refused to yield, initiating a pursuit.
The chase involved both ground units and a helicopter tracking the suspect as he navigated the surface streets of Compton. At one point, the suspect slowed down to 5 MPH while heading east on Alondra Blvd. CHP officers attempted to box him in but were unsuccessful.
The suspect was reportedly on the phone with his family during the chase and expressed fear as the reason for not stopping. The pursuit ended in front of the Compton DMV, where the suspect finally yielded and was taken into custody without incident.
Multiple family members arrived at the scene but remained cooperative with law enforcement. The suspect’s arrest concluded the intense pursuit, which fortunately ended without any injuries.
