ANZA, CA — The tragic death of 72-year-old Michael Davies in Anza over the weekend is likely the result of a medical emergency, according to the preliminary investigation conducted by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The incident unfolded just before 4 p.m. on Sunday when a CHP officer responded to a call about a crash in the area. Michael Davies was discovered in a stormwater channel off Anza Road, approximately 288 feet south of state Route 371.
CHP Officer Jonathan Torres provided details, stating, “Upon initial investigation, our officer determined this to be a single-vehicle traffic crash involving a 1995 Toyota T-100.” Unfortunately, Davies was pronounced dead at the scene.
The current findings suggest that the crash may have been triggered by an unknown medical emergency. However, the investigation is still pending, and further examination will be conducted. Torres noted, “Currently, alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.”
The incident resulted in no other reported injuries. The details highlight the unpredictable nature of medical emergencies and their potential impact on road safety. Authorities continue their efforts to gather information to better understand the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
