PERRIS, CA — Riverside County law enforcement authorities announced on Tuesday that an unidentified hit-and-run motorist, responsible for a deadly incident in Perris over the weekend, remains at large.
The investigation into this tragic crash was initiated at approximately 6:44 p.m. on Saturday when deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Evans Road and Whispering Wood Lane. Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of the driver of a 2020 Honda Fit inside the vehicle. Sadly, the victim, identified as 64-year-old Nuevo resident Jamie Beman, was pronounced dead at the scene by personnel from the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies determined that Beman had come to a stop at a westbound stop sign on Whispering Wood Lane, intending to make a southward turn onto Evans Road. As she began to execute her turn, a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder traveling north on Evans Road failed to stop at the sign, resulting in a collision between the two vehicles, as reported by the sheriff’s department.
The abandoned Nissan was discovered north of the crash scene and exhibited substantial front-end damage. “The driver of the Nissan fled the scene on foot immediately after the collision and remains at large,” stated the sheriff’s department on Tuesday.
The investigation is actively ongoing, and anyone with pertinent information about the incident is urged to contact Deputy Jess Kiebach at the Perris Sheriff’s Station at 951-210-1000 or the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office at 951-776-1099.
