Corona, CA – A tragic incident unfolded in Corona as a 40-year-old pedestrian lost their life in a hit-and-run accident, according to a statement released by the Corona Police Department on Saturday.
The incident took place at approximately 10:10 p.m. on Thursday, October 19, in the 200 block of E. Parkridge Avenue. Responding officers discovered a man on the roadway, suffering from severe injuries and surrounded by debris from the accident.
Subsequently, law enforcement personnel located a vehicle in the 300 block of N. McKinley Street that exhibited damage consistent with the collision.
The 53-year-old driver of the vehicle was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. However, he was later released, pending further investigation into his potential involvement in the hit-and-run.
The victim has been identified as Rodrigo Hernandez, a resident of Corona.
