A 35-year-old man from Riverside County was taken into custody in Orange County on Monday following a crash into a Garden Grove home early Sunday, resulting in the death of a woman inside.
According to Garden Grove police, the suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, drove a 2019 Toyota Camry into the residence located in the 11800 block of Magnolia Street around 1:55 a.m. on Sunday.
The victim, identified as 40-year-old Janet Carrillo, was fatally injured in the incident.
Following multiple reports of a hit-and-run, responding officers were directed by witnesses to the suspect, who had fled the scene. He was subsequently apprehended without resistance.
Carrillo was trapped by the vehicle upon impact and was pronounced dead at the scene, confirmed the police.
Authorities allege that the suspect was potentially under the influence of substances, which may have contributed to the crash.
