The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department disclosed that a 27-year-old man, identified as David Seth Gonzales of Cathedral City, lost his life on Saturday in La Quinta after crashing into a curb and two trees.
Deputies from the sheriff’s Thermal station were summoned to the scene of a single-vehicle crash at around 2:25 a.m. on Saturday, near the intersection of Monroe Street and Airport Boulevard.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered a white Kia sedan overturned on the sidewalk, with the driver trapped inside beyond their reach.
Emergency responders, including an ambulance and personnel from the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department, attended the scene, where the driver was pronounced dead.
According to investigators, the Kia was traveling southbound on Monroe Street when the driver purportedly disregarded the stop sign at Airport Boulevard, leading to a loss of control. The vehicle collided with a curb and two trees before coming to rest on its roof.
