A tragic incident occurred over the weekend in San Diego, resulting in the death of a man from Riverside County, as reported by authorities.
The crash, which occurred at approximately 4:05 a.m. on Sunday, involved an 18-year-old man from Perris who was driving a Nissan Maxima southbound on state Route 163, just north of Friars Road, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
CHP Officer Salvador Castro stated, “For reasons currently under investigation, the Nissan veered off the roadway and collided with a tree. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn, resulting in the ejection of the driver.”
Tragically, the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, Castro confirmed.
The identity of the deceased individual is being withheld pending notification of family members. Additionally, a toxicology report is pending through the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office to ascertain whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
