FONTANA, CA — A high-speed police pursuit in Fontana on Saturday night resulted in two fatalities and left four individuals injured, including two police officers.
The incident began at approximately 10:44 p.m. when officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a white Nissan Sentra for vehicle code violations. The driver failed to comply, initiating a pursuit that lasted around 20 seconds and reached speeds exceeding 100 mph. The chase concluded when the suspect lost control of the sedan, crashing into a police vehicle that was responding to the scene at Valley Boulevard and Cypress Avenue.
At the crash site, two individuals were pronounced dead, and two occupants of the Nissan sustained life-threatening injuries. The two police officers in the struck vehicle were also hospitalized with serious injuries.
Valley Boulevard, closed for investigation from Cypress Avenue to Juniper Avenue, reopened on Sunday afternoon. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s major accident team is leading the investigation, and as of Sunday, no further details were available.
