On the evening of Friday, January 26, a fiery chain-reaction collision occurred on the northbound lanes of the 15 Freeway in Corona, causing a closure that lasted for more than five hours. The crash, reported around 6:18 p.m. at Magnolia Avenue, involved a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter medical van carrying oxygen tanks, a Subaru sedan, and a semi-truck.
The incident unfolded when the medical van collided with the rear of the Subaru, which, in turn, struck a semi-truck. The oxygen canisters in the van exploded upon impact, leading to a fire that engulfed the first two vehicles and nearby trees and brush.
As a result of the crash, two individuals sustained injuries. The closure of the freeway lanes was necessary for emergency response, investigation, and cleanup efforts.
