On January 26, 2024, at 9:12 p.m., California Highway Patrol, Riverside office, Cal Fire Riverside County, and San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to a collision at Highland Ave and Center St in Highgrove. The incident involved a vehicle that had crashed into a telephone pole, trapping the driver.
Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered a car against a sheared-off light pole, with the driver trapped and losing consciousness. Firefighters utilized the jaws of life to extricate the victim, a process that took 22 minutes. The driver, suffering from major injuries, was then transported to a local trauma center.
The cause of the collision is currently under investigation, with the California Highway Patrol, Riverside Office, handling the case.
