Escondido, CA – Late on December 30, 2024, at approximately 10:57 PM, a deputy patrolling San Marcos observed a vehicle driving erratically, leading to a high-speed pursuit that ended in Escondido near 444 N Fig St.
The deputy attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled eastbound toward Valley Center. The suspect turned around on the grade and returned toward Escondido, where Escondido Police assisted by deploying spike strips. A successful spike of both driver-side tires significantly slowed the vehicle.
The driver began circling the area before coming to a stop at the mentioned location. The suspect then attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended with the assistance of a K9 unit.
Authorities believe the driver was under the influence and noted that the individual has a history of multiple DUIs. No further information is available at this time as the investigation continues.
