La Mesa, CA – On December 29, 2024, at approximately 7:29 AM, a driver lost control of their vehicle, hitting a fire hydrant and severing it from its mount at the intersection of Palm Ave and Spring St.
Fortunately, all four occupants inside the vehicle were able to exit safely and sustained no injuries. However, the force of the collision caused significant water flow for over 50 minutes, requiring assistance from the Heartland Fire Department (FD), California Highway Patrol (CHP), and the Helix Water District to manage the situation.
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances that led to the collision.
