A harrowing crash was reported on December 2, 2024, at 12:15 PM on Deer Creek Road, approximately two miles north of Pacific Coast Highway in Point Mugu. The accident, which occurred Saturday night, involved a white Cadillac SUV that plunged 1,000 feet off the road, rolling multiple times before resting on its roof.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) was alerted by the rear passenger, who sustained serious injuries and managed to hike to safety. His brother transported him to a hospital before authorities arrived. CHP located the vehicle around 4 PM and called for a Technical Rescue response from Ventura County Fire.
Firefighters and search teams, including K9 units, helicopters, and Urban Search & Rescue, are actively searching for the two missing occupants. The rear passenger reported hearing one of them calling out, suggesting a possible ejection. The search is ongoing, with Ventura County Fire confirming it will be a prolonged operation.
CHP clarified that earlier reports about the driver being accounted for were incorrect, and both the driver and the front passenger remain unaccounted for. Authorities are urging caution in the area as rescue efforts continue.
