In the early hours of December 16, 2024, at approximately 2:56 a.m., California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers from the West Los Angeles area were involved in a collision on the eastbound I-105 near Wilmington Avenue while attempting to intercept a speeding vehicle.
The vehicle in question was reportedly traveling at speeds exceeding 100 mph. During the pursuit, the officer’s patrol car collided with a civilian vehicle on the freeway.
At least one officer was transported to a hospital, reporting pain from the incident. The civilian vehicle’s occupants and their condition have not been disclosed.
As a result of the crash, eastbound traffic on I-105 is being diverted off at Wilmington Avenue while authorities investigate the collision. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes to avoid delays.
