In the early morning hours of December 15, 2024, a serious crash involving an Uber vehicle occurred on the 10 Freeway near Maple Avenue in Downtown Los Angeles. The collision happened at approximately 4:00 a.m. when an Uber carrying three female passengers struck a stalled vehicle in the fast lane.
The stalled vehicle, the result of an earlier single-car crash, was unoccupied at the time of the Uber’s impact. The original driver had exited his vehicle and was unharmed in the incident.
All four occupants of the Uber, including the driver and three passengers, were treated at the scene by the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) and subsequently transported to local hospitals. Their conditions are currently unknown.
A Good Samaritan, who was present at the scene, played a critical role in mitigating further danger. The individual deployed flares to slow oncoming traffic and attempted to free the victims by opening the Uber’s doors until California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers arrived.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident, which caused significant disruption on the freeway in the early morning hours.
