In the early hours of December 15, 2024, at approximately 12:18 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to a second structure fire in Lake Arrowhead, this time in the Sky Forest area, within the community known as “The Villas.” The incident came just hours after another fire on the opposite side of the lake, leaving residents shaken.
Upon arriving at the scene, emergency crews found a three-story home engulfed in flames on its Charlie side, the rear of the structure. The unique challenges posed by the home’s design and location significantly complicated firefighting efforts. Situated on a steep slope, the property required firefighters to navigate difficult terrain, forcing them to launch an aggressive attack from below the structure. Additionally, firefighters had to breach the upper-level deck of a neighboring home to access the fire and spray water on the flames.
The blaze, which penetrated the home’s interior, necessitated forceable entry by the responding teams. It took about 30 minutes for the firefighters to bring the flames under control. Despite the dramatic scene, no injuries were reported, and there is no confirmation on whether the house was occupied at the fire.
The fire caused concern among nearby residents, with some opting to evacuate due to fears of wildland spread. However, the flames did not impact the surrounding vegetation, easing concerns of a larger wildfire in the area.
The incident has left the Lake Arrowhead community on edge, following two significant fires in one night. Further details regarding the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are yet to be released.
