A family dog attacked three members of a household in Norwalk on Sunday evening, prompting a swift response from sheriff’s deputies, paramedics, and animal control officers.
The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. in the 14100 block of Crossdale Avenue. According to Lt. A. Healey of the Norwalk Sheriff’s Station, the attack appeared to be spontaneous. The dog, described as a pit bull, inflicted injuries ranging from moderate to minor on two men and one woman.
Paramedics transported a male victim, who sustained multiple injuries to his face and hands, to a nearby hospital. A female victim with leg injuries was also taken to the hospital by ambulance. A third male, with arm and leg wounds, declined medical transport.
A teenage boy, reportedly present during the attack, was unharmed.
During the altercation, one of the victims stabbed the dog multiple times in an attempt to stop the attack. The Southeast Area Animal Control Authority (SEAACA) later took custody of the dog, which was carried from the home using a dog stick and a muzzle cage. Its condition remains unknown.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing as authorities work to determine the cause of the sudden attack.
