In the early hours of December 14, 2024, at approximately 1:46 a.m., Tempe police and fire crews responded to reports of a house fire in the 1900 block of East Redmon Drive.
Upon arrival, officers found flames shooting through the roof of the home. In a dramatic effort, officers pulled a woman away from the burning structure and placed her on the sidewalk nearby as firefighters arrived on the scene.
Fire crews attacked the fire aggressively, entering the home to contain the blaze while others aided the woman and one of the officers. The woman was later transported to a local hospital in an unknown condition. The officer, despite being treated at the scene, declined medical transport.
Firefighters successfully brought the fire under control in approximately 40 minutes. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
