Late Monday night, December 9, 2024, Los Angeles County Fire responded to a vegetation fire near S. Malibu Canyon Road, north of Francisco Ranch Road, in Malibu.
The fire was initially reported at 11:00 PM, consuming 1 acre of medium to heavy brush with a rapid spread. Within minutes, the blaze grew to 10 acres, prompting a second alarm response and mandatory evacuations issued via Genasys.
By midnight, the fire had expanded to 100 acres, and flames were spotted west of Malibu Canyon Road by 1:00 AM. A third alarm was requested to combat the fire.
Emergency crews are actively working to contain the fire as evacuations continue. Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
