A three-story hillside home at 9473 N Reverie Rd was completely destroyed by a fire early Saturday morning, with the structure collapsing into a steep slope. Over 100 firefighters battled the blaze, which started around 5:00 a.m., extinguishing it in approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes.
The Los Angeles Fire Department faced significant challenges due to the home’s precarious location on a descending hillside. Helicopters were called in to perform water drops, aiding the firefighters’ efforts as they struggled to access all sides of the burning structure. The blaze caused the roof and portions of the building to collapse before the rest of the home fully gave way.
While no injuries were reported, the fire caused significant property damage, including the destruction of two vehicles—one of which belonged to the homeowners. Neighbors were seen hosing down flames that threatened nearby areas and attempting to protect their own property.
Fire crews also conducted water drops on surrounding vegetation to prevent the fire from spreading, as embers were carried by the wind. The overhaul operation to fully secure the area will continue into the morning.
LAFD arson investigators are currently at the scene but have yet to release any information about the fire’s cause. This remains an active incident.
