A routine traffic stop in the early hours of November 22, 2024, escalated into a high-speed chase and assault on a police officer, ending with the suspect’s arrest at his residence.
At approximately 1:00 AM, Houston Police Department (HPD) officers patrolling the Westside area stopped a male driver near 3000 Woodland Park. Initially cooperative, the suspect provided identification, but officers detected the smell of marijuana. As they attempted to remove the driver from the vehicle, a struggle ensued. The suspect re-entered his car and attempted to flee, dragging a female officer in the process.
The injured officer and her partner returned to their patrol vehicle and pursued the suspect. However, during the chase, the officers’ vehicle crashed, temporarily halting their pursuit. Despite this, the suspect was later located at his residence and taken into custody without further incident.
The individual now faces multiple charges, including felony evading and felony aggravated assault on a peace officer. The case remains under investigation.
