A woman was rescued late Wednesday morning after reportedly falling 15-20 feet into a manhole at the Carousel Mall. Emergency responders were alerted to the incident at approximately 11:04 a.m. following a 911 call about someone screaming for help.
Upon arrival, first responders learned that the woman, who had fallen the previous night, was trapped in the manhole for several hours before being discovered. San Bernardino County Fire officials worked for about 90 minutes to free the victim, who was then transported to a nearby hospital. Her injuries were described as moderate.
The area where the incident occurred is fenced off to the public, raising questions about how the woman gained access and what led to her fall. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
