A disturbance at a Houston property escalated into a police-involved shooting late Monday night. Houston Police Department (HPD) officers responded to reports of a suspicious individual with a weapon after a security guard confronted a Hispanic female, requesting her to leave the premises.
Upon arrival, the female left the area but was later located and detained by officers. During the incident, a Hispanic male approached the officers. Despite repeated verbal commands to stop and show his hands, the man failed to comply and suddenly moved toward the officers. One officer, with less than two years of service, discharged his weapon multiple times, striking the suspect.
Police rendered aid at the scene, and the male, in his 20s, was transported to the hospital in critical condition. The detained female was also taken to the hospital for reasons unrelated to the shooting.
Assistant Chief of HPD declined to provide details on where the male was struck. Investigators are still processing the scene and searching for any weapons. The investigation is ongoing, with both suspects remaining hospitalized.
