On the night of November 14, 2024, at approximately 11 p.m., a high-speed pursuit unfolded in Southern California, spanning multiple neighborhoods across Anaheim, Cerritos, Norwalk, Los Alamitos, and Lakewood. The incident began when California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers from the Westminster area spotted a Maserati traveling westbound on the 91 Freeway near Brookhurst Street at speeds exceeding 100 mph.
When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver failed to yield, sparking a chase. The pursuit led to Valley View Avenue, where the Maserati exited the freeway and entered a nearby residential neighborhood. There, the fleeing driver intentionally collided head-on with a CHP vehicle. The impact caused moderate damage to the patrol car and significant damage to the Maserati.
Despite the collision, the suspect continued to evade officers, prompting a prolonged pursuit that lasted approximately 30 minutes through various neighborhoods. The chase came to an end near Centralia Street and Pioneer Boulevard in Lakewood, where officers successfully apprehended the driver.
The suspect now faces multiple charges, including felony evading, assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer, and reckless driving. No serious injuries were reported during the incident, but the situation underscores the dangers of high-speed pursuits in densely populated areas.
