A man was killed early Thursday morning after falling from the 30-foot-high U.S.-Mexico Border Wall while attempting to cross into the United States illegally. The incident occurred around 5:47 a.m. in the Otay Mesa area, east of the Otay Mesa Port of Entry.
According to authorities, the victim, described as a Hispanic male, had successfully scaled the primary border wall using a makeshift ladder. However, it is believed that the ladder collapsed as he attempted to climb over the secondary wall, causing him to fall to the ground below. The fall proved fatal.
San Diego Police Department (SDPD) has been called in to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death. The name of the deceased has not been released pending notification of family members.
