On the night of November 6, 2024, a dramatic incident unfolded on the I-10 Eastbound near Baseline Road in Phoenix, leading to the temporary closure of the highway. The event began just before midnight when Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers were assisting a disabled motorist near Avondale Boulevard. In the midst of the shutdown, a Toyota RAV4 ignored the roadblock and sped through the closure.
Troopers immediately attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to yield, triggering a pursuit. The car continued eastbound on I-10 as DPS troopers strategically deployed spike strips, successfully hitting the vehicle’s tires near the US-60. Despite the damage, the driver persisted, but a trooper then utilized a Grappler Police Bumper to disable the car near Baseline Road, effectively bringing the chase to an end.
With the vehicle immobilized, negotiations began, and after some time, the driver surrendered peacefully. The highway was reopened, and the driver was taken into custody. This incident highlights the swift response of law enforcement and the use of specialized tactics to safely bring a dangerous situation to a close. At Pedram Law, we believe that legal representation should not be a financial burden.
