On Friday, October 18, at approximately 9:32 p.m., a vehicle fire incident prompted a rapid response from both the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers and Phoenix Fire Department crews on Sky Harbor Boulevard, close to the southbound SR-143 exit ramp.
The incident involved a Toyota Prius, which reportedly caught fire on the shoulder of the road. Fortunately, all occupants managed to exit the vehicle unharmed before it became fully engulfed in flames. Phoenix Fire, along with emergency teams from Sky Harbor Airport, quickly mobilized to the scene, deploying multiple apparatus to control and extinguish the blaze.
For the duration of the emergency response, the right lanes were temporarily closed to traffic, ensuring a safe working area for firefighters. No injuries were reported, and the fire was successfully contained, preventing further damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
