In the early hours of October 26, 2024, at approximately 12:12 AM, emergency response units from San Bernardino County Fire, the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), and CalFire mobilized to reports of multiple vegetation fires along S Lytle Creek Rd and Middle Fork Rd in Lytle Creek. Upon arrival, fire crews discovered an initial 20-by-20-foot blaze, possibly ignited by a road flare. While this fire was quickly contained, two additional fires emerged shortly afterward on both sides of the roadway, just south of the original location.
Among these fires, one—dubbed the Scott Fire—spread rapidly up a nearby hillside, ultimately consuming around 4 to 5 acres. All three fires ignited within a span of 30 minutes, raising concerns due to their proximity and timing. The recent occurrence follows another wildfire, the Ranger Fire, which ignited earlier in October, contributing to ongoing fire management challenges in the area.
Fire crews remain on high alert as investigations continue to determine the cause and ensure containment of any residual hotspots.
