Two men sustained critical injuries on Wednesday morning after a sedan jumped the curb and struck them as they were walking along Idaho Street near the Fullerton/La Habra city line. The incident, which occurred on the west sidewalk, prompted a swift response from La Habra Police and Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics.
According to authorities, the silver sedan was traveling south on Idaho Street toward Fullerton when it hopped the curb, scraping the driver’s side and brushing a light pole before colliding with the two pedestrians, who were thrown into a nearby wall from the impact. Witnesses indicated that the victims were retirees from a nearby neighborhood who were out for their regular morning walk.
The driver, a woman who allegedly “blacked out” moments before losing control of the vehicle, briefly rolled backward before proceeding forward, jumping the curb a second time. She remained at the scene and cooperated with police. While she initially requested medical attention, she was later declined transport to a hospital.
Both men were rushed to nearby trauma centers in critical condition. The full extent of their injuries has not been disclosed. As a result of the accident, southbound lanes on Idaho Street are closed beyond the Target shopping center at Imperial Highway as police investigate.
