In the early hours of October 20th, a severe collision occurred near the intersection of Whittram Avenue and Calabash Avenue, resulting in one fatality and one individual injured. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) received an iPhone Crash Notification at approximately 1:15 AM, prompting an immediate response.
Upon arrival, CHP officers discovered a pickup truck that had crashed into the side of a parked semi-trailer, sustaining significant damage. There were two occupants in the pickup truck at the time of the accident. Tragically, one of the occupants was found unresponsive and trapped within the vehicle. Emergency personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded swiftly to the scene, but despite their efforts, they declared one individual deceased at the location.
The second occupant was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that remain unknown at this time. The CHP is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
