A tragic helicopter crash occurred in Houston’s EaDo district on Sunday evening when a Robinson R44 helicopter struck a communications tower before bursting into flames and crashing to the ground. The aircraft, carrying four occupants, is believed to have hit the tower at approximately 7:55 PM, creating a large debris field across the area. Unfortunately, no survivors have been reported, and not all bodies have been recovered.
Emergency crews from the Houston Fire Department (HFD), Houston Police Department (HPD), and Precinct 6 quickly responded to the scene, with Station 17 firefighters nearby reportedly hearing the explosion. Recovery efforts are currently underway, led by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), and Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). Further investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
The tragedy has left the area in shock as authorities continue their search and recovery operation.
