On the morning of October 2, 2024, at approximately 7:47 a.m., emergency responders from Cal Fire, Riverside County, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, and the California Highway Patrol were dispatched to a significant multi-car accident on the westbound side of SR60 near Perris Boulevard in Moreno Valley.
The crash involved four vehicles and a semi-truck, totaling five vehicles. Initial reports indicate that the semi-truck rear-ended one of the vehicles, trapping a female occupant inside for around 20 minutes. She was later freed and transported to a local hospital, suffering from a head laceration and other unknown injuries.
At least two additional people were also transported to nearby hospitals, with the severity of their injuries still unknown. One of the individuals involved in the crash was a Riverside County Sheriff’s Office employee from the Thermal area, who was en route to The Ben Clark Training Center at the time of the incident.
The crash has led to significant traffic disruptions, with freeway backup extending several miles, reaching as far as Nason Street. Traffic is being diverted to Ironwood Avenue as the scene remains active. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible and expect delays as cleanup efforts continue.
