A fast-moving brush fire broke out on October 18, 2024, at 2:07 PM on Pamela Court in Rowland Heights, quickly spreading across five acres and threatening nearby homes. Multiple water drops from helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft were deployed in an effort to control the blaze. Local sheriffs have taken one person into custody in connection with the fire.
This second-alarm fire remains active, with firefighting crews working to contain it. Unfortunately, one firefighter has been injured during the efforts.
The fire also posed a significant threat to horses housed near the top of the park. Preparations were made to evacuate the animals, but thanks to the rapid response, the fire was stopped before evacuation became necessary.
