On October 1st, at approximately 12:45 AM, the Line Fire in the San Bernardino Mountains near Highway 38 continued its fierce and unpredictable behavior. After a brief period of calm lasting about two hours, the fire regained strength, once again posing a significant threat to nearby communities, particularly Angelus Oaks.
Earlier in the evening, firefighters stationed on the west side of Seven Oaks were actively working to protect homes. They executed a strategic backfire where Seven Oaks Road intersects with 1N09, successfully redirecting the main fire’s intense heat into the backfire, helping to control its movement temporarily. As night fell, the fire’s smoke column shifted, changing direction from a southern push to a western one, placing Angelus Oaks in the path of danger.
Despite the fire’s brief lull, it quickly gained momentum, advancing up the slopes toward Angelus Oaks from both the west and southwest. Helicopters have been deployed to drop water on the fire’s front lines in an effort to slow its advance. Meanwhile, firefighters are preparing to withdraw from their positions on Forest Road 1N12, which runs parallel to the town, as the fire’s progress becomes more aggressive.
Fire resources remain staged throughout Angelus Oaks, ready to make a stand as necessary, with residents and officials anxiously monitoring the fire’s unpredictable course.
