In the early hours of October 8, 2024, law enforcement responded to a break-in at PureCare Pharmacy located on Carmel Mountain Road. This incident is part of a troubling trend, as over a dozen pharmacies in Los Angeles and Orange Counties have recently fallen victim to similar crimes.
According to reports, three male suspects were involved in a series of burglaries targeting pharmacies throughout the region. The suspects successfully broke into a pharmacy in Oceanside and attempted to burglarize a CVS in Encinitas before reaching PureCare Pharmacy.
Upon the owner’s arrival, equipped with a key to the business, there were no visible signs of forced entry on the exterior. However, the security gate inside had been tampered with. Officers conducted a thorough search of the premises but found no suspects inside. The extent of the losses incurred remains unknown at this time, and investigators are still trying to determine how the suspects gained access, given that both sets of doors were secured.
Witnesses reported that the suspects were wearing hoodies and masks, and they were seen driving a white van. Authorities are investigating the possibility that this crew is responsible for a string of pharmacy break-ins in the surrounding areas, with this incident marking the fourth burglary at PureCare Pharmacy.
San Diego Police Department Burglary Detectives are currently en route to the location to further investigate the crime. Community members are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as authorities work to apprehend the suspects and enhance security measures for local businesses.
