In the evening hours of October 2, the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) responded to a report of a brush fire in Gorman. Upon arrival, crews discovered a fire engulfing approximately a quarter-acre of medium to heavy brush.
Recognizing the severity of the situation, firefighters ordered additional aerial support to combat the blaze, which began to spread into denser brush and followed the terrain. As the fire intensified, California Highway Patrol (CHP) notified fire personnel of a potential vehicle accident on the South 5 Freeway, suggesting that a vehicle may have veered off the road and crashed.
Tragically, the subsequent investigation revealed a sedan involved in the incident, with a deceased individual located inside the vehicle. The victim was found positioned under the dash in the floorboards, although age and gender remain undetermined at this time. Preliminary assessments suggest that the fire was ignited as a result of the vehicle crash.
The fire, now referred to as the Frazier Fire, was effectively contained at 13 acres after approximately an hour and 20 minutes of firefighting efforts. Both CHP and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) are on the scene conducting further investigations into the accident and its aftermath.
As the investigation continues, authorities are working to gather more information about the victim and the circumstances leading up to this tragic event.
