In the early hours of September 29, 2024, at around 1:45 a.m., a fire broke out in a shopping center parking lot located at 1725 S Alameda St, Compton. A newer model truck was found ablaze when the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department (LASD) and Compton Fire Department (CFD) arrived on the scene.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing several explosions before the fire department’s arrival. In a dramatic moment, a LASD deputy passed near the vehicle just seconds before another explosion sent flames shooting into the air, completely engulfing the truck. The powerful blasts intensified the fire, but the CFD quickly worked to extinguish the flames.
The cause of the incident remains unknown, and investigations are underway to determine how the truck ended up at the location and what may have triggered the explosions. There have been no reports of injuries at this time.
