The Glendale Police Department has confirmed the arrest of a man accused of decapitating his mother inside her Glendale home. The suspect, Alejandro Gonzales, 28, was taken into custody on September 28, 2024, following the brutal killing of his mother, 49-year-old Teresa DeJesus Cruz Rubio.
Authorities report that the gruesome crime occurred on Friday, September 27, inside Rubio’s residence on the 4400 Block of West Keim Drive. Gonzales allegedly fled the scene in his mother’s SUV. Early the following morning, around 2:00 AM, Phoenix Police spotted the vehicle and immediately alerted Glendale Police.
The Glendale Police Department, with the support of the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force, tracked Gonzales down to a Pilot J truck stop at 900 N. 99th Avenue near I-10 in Avondale. He was arrested without incident shortly before 3:00 AM.
Gonzales reportedly admitted to the crime and is now being held on a $1,000,000 cash-only bond. His arrest marks the conclusion of a swift multi-agency effort to bring him into custody. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the murder is ongoing.
