Seattle, WA – A routine encampment sweep led to a grisly discovery on Friday morning when Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) crews found a woman’s body in a suitcase. The discovery occurred near the northbound I-5 and eastbound I-90 on-ramp as crews cleared the area following a recent shooting incident.
Authorities reported that the body was in an advanced state of decomposition, making it difficult to immediately identify the woman. While the victim’s identity remains unknown, investigators are pursuing leads, including a potential suspect who left the encampment before the sweep, seemingly aware of the operation.
The Washington State Patrol has taken charge of the investigation. Crews, meanwhile, continued with the planned sweep of the area.
Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
