Danbury, TX – On the night of September 25, 2024, at approximately 9:15 p.m., Danbury Police responded to reports of a domestic disturbance at a residence located at 1415 Avenue C. Upon arrival, an officer was shot by a male suspect, identified as the son and grandson of the family involved in the incident.
According to initial reports from police scanners, the officer was shot in the ear, with the bullet possibly lodging behind his jaw. Despite his injuries, the officer was able to radio for medical assistance and backup. He was transported by ground to a nearby trauma center for an initial assessment before being flown to a medical center for further treatment.
In addition to the officer’s injuries, an elderly woman, believed to be the suspect’s 88-year-old grandmother, sustained a broken hip or leg during the incident. She was airlifted to the Texas Medical Center (TMC) for emergency treatment.
After an extensive manhunt involving two helicopters, a DPS plane, and multiple law enforcement agencies, the suspect was located around midnight, approximately half a mile from the crime scene. The search included resources from the SWAT team and departments across the region, ultimately leading to the suspect’s arrest.
