Bonney Lake, WA — Two people lost their lives following a high-speed pursuit and gunfire exchange involving two pickup trucks on Sunday, September 16th. The incident, reportedly triggered by the theft of a trailer, unfolded near the intersection of Rhodes Lake Road East and Falling Water Boulevard East, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities stated that the driver of a white pickup truck had stolen a trailer from Prairie Ridge, leading to a chase by the driver of a gold pickup. The pursuit turned violent as gunfire was exchanged between the vehicles, both during the chase and after they crashed at the intersection around 6:40 AM.
Responding police from various agencies found both trucks at the scene. Two men involved in the shootout were fatally injured—one died at the scene, while the other, found in the white truck’s backseat, was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Law enforcement apprehended a man believed to be the driver of the gold truck and a woman who fled from the white truck. However, the driver of the white pickup remains at large, possibly injured.
