Los Angeles, September 5, 2024 – At approximately 3:12 a.m. on September 5, emergency services were dispatched to the intersection of Slauson and Corning Avenue following reports of a vehicle colliding with a fire hydrant. Upon arrival, officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) discovered an unresponsive male inside the vehicle, who was not breathing and had no detectable pulse.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) promptly arrived at the scene and initiated CPR. Despite their efforts, including the use of a LUCAS device designed to provide automated chest compressions, the individual was tragically declared deceased at the scene.
The CHP is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident to determine the cause of the accident. The identity of the deceased male has not yet been released.
