San Jacinto, CA – On Sunday, September 1, 2024, a brush fire erupted near the intersection of Soboba Road and Gilman Springs Road in San Jacinto. Riverside County Fire Department crews responded swiftly to the blaze, which was initially reported at 2:20 p.m. At that time, the fire covered just five acres, but by 3 p.m., it had grown rapidly to encompass 100 acres.
Multiple air and ground resources were deployed to battle the upslope-burning fire. Fortunately, no structures were threatened, and no evacuations or road closures were necessary. However, one firefighter sustained injuries and was transported for treatment. The extent of the injuries remains unknown.
Firefighters managed to contain the blaze, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
