Kent, WA— On August 24, 2024, at approximately 9:28 AM, a small aircraft departing from Crest Airfield experienced a critical incident over Lake Meridian in Kent. The plane, which had mud on its floats, is believed to have rolled due to the additional drag, leading to an emergency situation.
Witnesses on the scene immediately sprang into action. As some called 911, others grabbed boats and rushed to the aircraft’s aid, pulling it toward the shore even before the arrival of Public Safety Forces (PSF). Their swift response was crucial, as they began performing CPR on the pilot, who was eventually revived after prolonged efforts. The pilot was then transported to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) for further treatment.
The quick actions of these residents, combined with the rapid response from emergency services, played a pivotal role in saving the pilot’s life.
