Las Vegas, NV — On Thursday morning, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Officers were dispatched to a Green Valley Grocers Gas Station following reports of gunfire. The situation quickly escalated when the suspect fled the scene and barricaded himself inside a nearby residence in the 4500 block of Bonita Vista Street.
Due to the proximity of Clifford Lawrence Middle School to the incident, the school was immediately placed on lockdown as a precaution. Additionally, Peace Road, from Durango to Bonita Vista, was closed to traffic for the duration of the standoff.
LVMPD SWAT units, along with Crisis Negotiators, were called to the scene to manage the situation. After several tense hours of negotiations, the suspect surrendered to police without further incident at approximately 4:30 PM.
The swift and coordinated response from law enforcement ensured that the situation was resolved peacefully, with no injuries reported. The lockdown at Clifford Lawrence Middle School was lifted shortly after the suspect’s surrender, and the surrounding area has since returned to normal.
