A traffic collision involving a full-size utility van and an SUV occurred at the intersection of South Euclid Street and West Crone Avenue in Anaheim on Tuesday evening. Emergency response teams from the Anaheim Police Department and Anaheim Fire and Rescue quickly arrived at the scene.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered five occupants in the SUV, two of whom sustained injuries. The injured individuals were transported to a nearby hospital, where they are receiving treatment for injuries of unknown severity.
The driver of the utility van fled the scene on foot, heading into a nearby neighborhood park. Witnesses in the park observed the suspect fleeing and promptly notified law enforcement officers. Anaheim Police quickly located and apprehended the driver, who was later booked on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).
During their investigation, officers discovered a nitrous oxide (NOS) cylinder inside the suspect’s vehicle. The presence of the NOS cylinder raises additional concerns regarding the circumstances of the incident.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the full extent of the driver’s actions leading up to the collision.
